Torri del Benaco captures all the charm of a medieval village nestling between walls and towers. The Roman harbour recalls the tradition of Lake Garda’s fishermen. Various incisions in the rock are a testimony to the prehistoric era. The development of tourism has made Torri one of the most exclusive spots on the lake, with guests of prestige such as Andrè Gide, Stephen Spender, Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leight, Maria Callas, Jacques Piccard and King Juan Carlos of Spain. Pai, with its two small villages on the lakeside and on the hillside, and Albisano, a green balcony over the lake, both offer history and holidays in close contact with nature. Crero is a group of old houses amongst the olive groves. The beaches are sunbathed all day long and the water is clean. Sailing and windsurfing are popular on the lake. Many walks can be made, even excursions with mountain bike. Cruises on the lake are also possible. The suggestive Scaliger Castle and the Auditorium San Giovanni, building with a remarkable architectonic value, are the romantic setting for civil weddings. is a clear demonstration of it. Here the olive trees dominate the view over the lake Garda pushing on to its very long beaches. In the luxuriant woods among holm-oaks and little oaks you will find the cistus albidus a tree growing elsewhere only along the sea coasts. Looking from the lake the area of Torri del Benaco offers an extraordinary view. To admire this gorgeous view you will have to board the ferry which everyday goes to and fro the opposite coast of the lake. The old town crossed over by a network of narrow alleys is situated between the Castle of the Della Scala family and the polished parish church. The Venetian palaces face the little port where cabin cruisers rest close to the fishing boats. Here and there you can find ancient districts and solitary little churches among the olive groves. This friendly and sincere familiarity gives a warm welcome to tourists who can be lodged in more than forty hotels, in the residences and camping located either in Torri or in its hamlets Pai and Albisano. Pai is a village facing the lake completely covered by a sea of olive trees. The old village is situated on a knoll. Albisano - a green and cool balcony overlooking the blue waters of the Lake Garda - is on the hills.
